The characteristic of the property of presence of time and space is that a performer and audience share a common foundation that something is made ¡®here now.¡¯ In the performance of Pansori, a performer and audience share the performance time together and in addition, audience directly takes a part in the performance while the performance is given. The concrete way audience directly takes a part in the performance is Chuimsae.
In the Pan (ground) of Pansori, there are three types of time. The first is performance hours, the second is the time in the performance and the other is a mixture of the performance hours and the time in the performance. The performance hour is that everyone shares consistently all through the performance, but it is most definitely seen when a performer is present on the Pan as a narrator, that is, when a performer narrates. The time in the performance appears when the characters of the performance are present on the stage, that is, when a performer plays ¡®the roles of the characters¡¯ in the ¡®Pan¡¯ in cooperation with a drummer. The mixture of the performance hours and the time in the performance appears when a performer speaks with his/ her mouth/language as narrator while taking physical actions of the characters whom he/she expresses through narration. |
